Megan Wigginz is a dynamic documentary filmmaker and broadcast journalist, rooted in a rich background of sports and multimedia journalism from North Carolina A&T State University, where she graduated as a dedicated student-athlete with a Bachelor's in Multimedia Journalism. Her journey through rigorous academic and athletic disciplines was complemented by hands-on internships in broadcast and media production, laying the foundation for a flourishing career in media and film production.
During her undergraduate years, Megan actively engaged in internships that honed her skills in real-world settings, working alongside seasoned professionals in live broadcasts and multimedia projects. Most notably, her internship with the NFL at Radio Row and Super Bowl LIII provided a unique and invaluable perspective, deeply enriching her industry exposure. Simultaneously, Megan was deeply involved within the University, actively participating in Aggie News & Views, contributing to The A&T Register, and serving as a representative for student-athletes within the Journalism and Mass Communications Department. These experiences not only reinforced her academic learning but also enabled her to seamlessly transition from academic theories to practical, impactful storytelling in her professional work.
Further advancing her expertise, Megan took an international route and completed a Master’s in Film & Television Production in Cambridge, England. Armed with this advanced degree, she excels at uncovering and crafting compelling stories that bring hidden narratives to the forefront. Her expertise in documentary filmmaking spans the entire production process—from concept to final cut—demonstrating her ability to manage and produce impactful content across various media platforms, both locally and globally.

Professional Journey
Athletic Foundations: Megan's journey began on the volleyball courts, where her dedication earned her a full athletic scholarship to North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Her involvement extended beyond athletics; she was a pivotal leader in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, serving as an Ambassador representing the Student-Athletes in the Department, and contributing significantly to university media outlets like Aggie News & Views and The A&T Register.
Megan took on significant roles at Aggie News & Views, where she excelled as a sports anchor, producer, and editor. She was responsible for creating, producing, and editing compelling news packages that highlighted university sports events and athlete stories. This role not only honed her technical skills with tools like Avid Composer and Adobe Premiere but also deepened her ability to tell engaging stories through visual and written content.
Media and Production Mastery: From her collegiate foundations, Megan transitioned into the professional realm through pivotal internships at Greensboro Television Network and Young Favour Productions. These experiences were instrumental in refining her skills in multimedia production, from shooting and editing to managing live broadcasts.
Throughout her collegiate career, she worked hard to learn and develop her craft with the production of video, photography, audio, and editing in Avid Composer, Adobe Premiere, and within the Creative Cloud. Her passion for storytelling through visual and written platforms lead her to put in many extra hours to cultivate and build her skill set and craft.
In the fall of 2018, she was selected and nominated by her school to represent as a student-athlete at the Careers in Football Forum, which was put on by the NFL in Atlanta, Georgia. As one of the two chosen student-athletes from A&T, this was an outstanding way to network, advance her skill set, and gain experience as she presented a group case study to a panel of NFL and Club Executives.
After this event, Megan set her goals even higher, she applied and was chosen to be an intern for the NFL on Radio Row and at the Super Bowl, for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, Georgia in February 2019. She gained valuable experience during this internship and built meaningful business connections and relationships. In her role, she worked with NFL players as well as NFL Executives while navigating the media and press of both Radio Row and the Super Bowl. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity continued to expand Megan’s horizons within her career, allowing her to strive to set her goals high and continue to reach them.
Professional Milestones: A transformative moment at the Super Bowl LIII led to the inception of Heart Work Media, a collaborative venture with NFL Legend Cameron Lynch. Megan’s roles in directing, creative producing, videography, photography, and editing have served notable clients like the NFL, Zapier, and Vertimax. She founded her own production company, MWM Productions, where she has excelled in roles including creative direction, camera operation, editing, and social media management. Megan has also engaged extensively in broadcast work, leveraging her diverse media skills at major events such as Super Bowl LVIII, LIV, and the 2020 NFL Combine, where she has been credentialed media.
International Pursuits and Further Education: In 2022 her journey took an International turn with the pursuit of a Master's degree in Film and Television Production at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England, facilitated by yet another athletic scholarship. Simultaneously, as an athlete for her University, she proudly led her team to claim the title of National Champions Trophy at Bucs Big Wednesday in March of 2023.
During her time abroad, Megan continued to build and elevate her skillset, portfolio, and clientele to an international level. One of her significant projects included directing and producing a documentary titled "The Road to Bucs Big Wednesday," which chronicled her own university team's journey to winning the National Champions Trophy. This work not only showcased her ability to capture compelling narratives but also her skill in weaving these narratives into impactful visual storytelling.
Additionally, Megan led her Master’s class team as a director and producer for a KODAK Nahemi Student Film Competition, shot on 16mm film. Beyond her curriculum, she expanded her film knowledge and experience by attending well-known festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival and London Film Festival.
Current Endeavors: After completing her Master’s, Megan joined The Cambridge Film Festival as a Festival Assistant with the Marketing & Outreach Team, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the festival's outreach and enhancing audience engagement. She also captured key moments as a videographer and photographer, documenting the festival and conducting interviews with notable filmmakers like Asif Kapadia and Carol Morley. Her efforts greatly increased the festival’s visibility and contributed to its success, demonstrating her adept handling of high-profile events with technical proficiency and creative flair. Her contributions were instrumental in increasing the festival’s visibility and success, showcasing her ability to handle high-profile events with a blend of technical skill and creative vision.
Looking Ahead:
Most recently, Megan attended Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nevada credentialed in media roles as an interviewer, videographer, photographer, and creative producer for different clientele and companies during Radio Row and other major broadcasting events. Her involvement includes extensive broadcast work, where she operates cameras, manages editing processes, and coordinates production efforts, ensuring that each event is captured with professional excellence and creative flair.In addition to her work at high-profile events, Megan collaborates with HBCU Endzone, a non-profit organization that supports students and institutions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by providing capacity building and financial assistance. Megan plays a pivotal role in promoting and highlighting the achievements and events of HBCUs through effective digital media strategies. She manages social media and other media projects, utilizing her expertise to amplify their presence and impact in the community.
Now, freshly minted with a Master's degree, Megan stands ready to channel her diverse skill set into impactful creative media and filmmaking projects. Committed to weaving inspiring narratives, she eagerly anticipates making a lasting imprint through the lens of her camera and in front of it.
